Panera Bread Payment Methods

The side of a Panera Bread cafe.

Panera Bread is a fast-casual cafe and restaurant with a focus on freshly-baked bread. You can buy sandwiches and stuffed bread entrees at this restaurant and you can also order individual loaves of bread there. It also bakes several types of bagels, including chocolate chip bagels and blueberry bagels. You can also get soups and salads there, and Panera serves coffee as well. While many of its customers eat their meals at its cafes, Panera operates drive-thru lanes at some locations.

Unlike a few of its competitors, Panera is open for dinner as well as breakfast and lunch. Bagel shops often open very early in the morning and close in the afternoon, and some fast-casual breakfast and lunch restaurants keep similar hours. There are also some coffee shops in my area that close in the afternoon. Panera restaurants don’t stay open late at night like fast-food restaurants, but they typically will still be open if you’re looking for a place to eat dinner after work. This bakery-cafe’s hours do vary by location, though. Panera also accepts several forms of payment.

Does Panera Bread Accept Major Credit Cards?

Panera Bread accepts American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cards. It also accepts both debit cards and credit cards.

Panera Bread also accepts cash, which is worth mentioning because some restaurants have stopped accepting cash. It also has partnerships with third-party food delivery services that may be able to accept cash payments as well.

Does Panera Bread Accept Mobile Payment Methods?

Panera Bread accepts Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and other contactless payment methods for in-store purchases. This information was confirmed by the cafe’s front window sticker. I also looked up the profiles of several Panera Bread cafes in my area on Apple Maps and confirmed that they accept contactless payments as well.

Additionally, Panera Bread began accepting Amazon One’s palm-reading payment method in 2023 and it was the first national restaurant chain to use this technology. This bakery-cafe is an early adopter of new payment methods and it was also one of the first restaurants to accept Apple Pay.

Panera Bread also has both an iPhone app and an Android app. You can order food for delivery with these apps or pick it up at a nearby cafe.

Does Panera Bread Accept International Payment Methods?

Panera Bread accepts Discover cards so it’s very likely that it can accept JCB and UnionPay cards by processing them through the Discover network. Additionally, this cafe can accept RuPay global cards from Indian banks because it accepts Discover.

Does Panera Bread Accept EBT?

Panera Bread doesn’t accept EBT as a payment method at its Southern California cafes. I checked the lists of Restaurant Meals program participants in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, and San Diego counties and didn’t see this restaurant on those lists. That’s not unusual, though, because other fast-casual cafes and coffee shops typically don’t accept this payment method either. Subway serves sandwiches and accepts EBT at many of its Southern California restaurants, though.

Does Panera Bread Have Its Own Payment Methods?

Panera Bread sells gift cards and e-gift cards. It’s a popular bakery-cafe so you can also buy its gift cards at independently operated businesses such as supermarkets.
