Subway Payment Methods

A Subway sandwich shop.

Subway is a quick-service restaurant that sells sub sandwiches as well as sides such as potato chips and cookies. One noteworthy thing about this sub shop is that it has many more locations than other restaurants. This is because it doesn’t require as much equipment to prepare food as other restaurants so it has low franchise fees. You’ll frequently see Subway’s sub shops in Southern California strip malls, but you’ll also see its sub shops at remote truck stops and you’ll also see them in rural communities that don’t have many other restaurants.

Subway also makes its sandwiches with fresh vegetables so it’s considered healthier than other fast-food restaurants. It’s popular with truck drivers who don’t want to gain weight as well as vegans and vegetarians who don’t want to eat at burger restaurants. So while some fast-food burger chains also have restaurants in remote locations, that’s not this sub shop’s only advantage. Subway also lets you decide which condiments to add to your sandwich so it’s easy to select healthy options there. This sub shop accepts several payment methods.

Does Subway Accept Major Credit Cards?

Subway accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards. It accepts both debit cards and credit cards.

Subway also accepts cash. Some of its sub shops accept $50 and $100 bills but the store manager decides whether to accept large bills and some managers will not accept them. Additionally, sub shops don’t keep a lot of cash on hand so a Subway may only accept large bills if it has enough cash available to break them.

Does Subway Accept Mobile Payment Methods?

Subway accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay for in-store purchases. This restaurant was an early adopter of contactless payment technology and has accepted contactless payments since 2014. It was also an early adopter of PayPal in 2015 but stopped accepting this payment option several years later.

Subway also has rewards apps for both the iPhone and Android phones. Its apps accept Apple Pay and Google Pay for online orders. This restaurant prepares sub sandwiches quickly, though, so it’s not really necessary to order ahead if you plan to pick up a sandwich there.

Does Subway Accept International Payment Methods?

Since Subway accepts Discover cards, it’s likely that it can accept JCB and UnionPay cards by processing them through the Discover network. It can also use the same process to accept RuPay global cards. That’s useful to know because this restaurant serves vegetarian subs and has locations in remote places such as truck stops.

Does Subway Accept EBT?

Subway accepts EBT at many of its restaurants in Southern California. Its sub shops appear on the lists of restaurants that participate in the Restaurant Meals program in Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Kern counties. Subway also accepts EBT at a few of its locations in Santa Barbara County, unlike many other restaurants there. In short, EBT is widely accepted at this sub shop’s Southern California locations. That’s noteworthy because other sub shops usually don’t accept EBT as a payment method.

Subway doesn’t accept EBT for online orders. This sandwich shop has partnerships with third-party delivery services that can bring your sub to your home or workplace, but you’ll have to select another payment method if you want to have your meal delivered.

Does Subway Offer Its Own Payment Methods?

Subway sells branded gift cards, including e-gift cards. You can also buy reloadable gift cards from Subway.

It’s now possible to split payment between a gift card and a credit card on a mobile order if you apply the gift card first and then select the credit card as the other payment method. This means that you don’t have to add more funds to the card to pay for your online order. You can split payment on in-store orders as well.

What’s Another Useful Fact About Subway?

Subway can make you a sandwich with a veggie patty if you’re looking for an alternative to meat. You can also order a sandwich without cheese there.
